Newer Versions of RepG

I noticed that MBI has released several new versions lately and the other night I tried grabbing one of there versions 34 to be specific. However I can't get it to connect to my Ultimaker, is there something special that has to be done to it in order to get that combination to work?

The main reason Id like to use it is because it has SF47 built in and I would no longer have to generate gcode outside of RepG and then bring it back in. Does the Ultimaker team have any plans on releasing an update? I noticed some mention of it back in February however nothing since then, they had a release date set but never made it.

I do know Ultimaker is aware of it, and be sure that they are working hard to get everything done. Unfortunately they are way understaffed, only 1 person is currently working on repG and that is propably the reason why they couldnt make their release date. The version MBI is using for their reprap driver is dating from repG24, when Erik (from Ultimaker) still had some time to improve things. Its functional with the 5D driver, but way outdated for use with Marlin.

Ultimaker is working on releasing RepG34. (I had a spin with the a test version from them, but it has a few problems that need to be fixed)

RepG is usable with Marlin, but you need to change the baudrates. I think they also fixed the 250000 baud issue, but I didn't test it. (But, IMHO, Cura is the way forward ;-) )

At the Ulti-evening yesterday both Julius and David gave a presentation on the progress that has been made with the software.

Julius spoke about RepG 34 with integrated Skeinforge 47+ and stable, new Marlin version

RepG34 (with integrated Skeinforge) are available at

    http://software.ultimaker.com/

The new Marlin firmware can be updated through any version of RepG and is available in the "Update new firmware" dialog

David (Daid) spoke about Cura which is also a very, very impressive package and definately worth trying!

Cura RC2 is the newest version. Hopefully he can give the link to download it from.

Cura ia basically an all-in-one solution with some added functionality and nice user-interface.

    Both programs are worth trying!

RepG 34 is tested by Julius and debugged as well. I assume it will be a pretty stable program in combination with the recommended firmware.

Cura is under development but the RC2 release seems to be working fine and Daid does an awesome job in troubleshooting!

This is no garantee everything will be working properly but it's very good there are now 2 new, stable and up to date options available.

Please feel free to play around with either program

Thanks! I was quite nervous, I'm not that good in speaking before people.

    The link is:

(scroll a bit down for download links)

I've also updated the Ultimaker Wiki with a screenshot and updated the links a bit. Should make Cura more visible :)

You mention SF47+ in this build however I'm not seeing it I only see 40 and 35 and slicer. This was probably the most valuable feature for me, I'm one of those people that once I get a good workflow having to take the time to relearn something else can take up more time then I can afford.

I'm also a bit disappointed in the color scheme. I find it really uncomfortable to look at for an extended period of time. I like what was done with the icons however the teal-white scheme is just really uncomfortable for me.

Skeinforge 47 is supported, working on getting the newer versions too, however at this moment you need to manually install it. I didnt had good ultimaker profiles for SF47 that were working, was running my butt off to get everything fixed for the ultimaker evening. Will try to get a fixed version by the end of this week.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
