Legacy UM3 Nozzle Extruder 1 -2 Z Offset Fine Tuning Adjustment

Hi, using legacy UM3 machines, not the S3

Is there is a way to adjust the Z offset between Extruder 1 and 2 nozzles through the Cura software profile / machine settings instead of running the manual calibrate level buildplate process and then trying to make the adjustment in the last step?  My leveling is pretty good but sometimes I just want to make minor adjustments without losing the rest of the calibration setup.

Thanks in advance

    Hi,

afaik, there is no other way than manual levelling. But if your leveling is good, why don't you just skip the first steps of the leveling process without any changes and only tune the offset, which is done only with the encoding wheel, without touching the leveling screws?

    Regards

Thank you - Yes, that is what I currently do ..... was looking for a better way.  Just it's annoying as it takes time just to tune one variable which I'm sure is just a value stored somewhere in the firmware/software. And every 1 out of 10  I may not bring Extruder 1 back to the exact same position throwing off my first layer (which was perfectly fine before).

That sounds like your spring or gears in the printhead have been worn out?
Those are still available from UltiMaker via your local reseller.
If I recall correctly the same ones are used in the S series as were in the UM3.

Thanks for the heads up Dustin. After you comment I decided to take a closer look at the spring and saws something. I  took apart the printcore after and noticed some small loose debris (strings from filament) trapped inside the spring coils. Maybe this was getting caught in the coils during interchanges between PC1 and PC2 and throwing off the calibration. Time will tell.

But TBH would still love an easier way to tune the Z-diff through software  LOL
