5.5 and 5.6 both had problems when slicing certain models that were rounded organic shapes, or that had "floors" with a lot of definition on one or two layers.  Building models with rough-hewn wood floors, or with uneven stone floors are an example.

I suggest you upgrade to 5.7.1 as it is much better at handling those situations.  5.7.2 is good but has a bug that can affect the StartUp Gcode so if you have an ABL then 5.7.1 might be a better choice.
