Laying flat feature working incorrect

I have two part and I import them to cura.

The orientation is not correct, I rotate it. After that it is 5 layers in the air, but totally in balance.

After using the laying flat feature, the part starts on the first layer, but it is inclined. The end of the part starts with the bottom on layer 5, not on the first layer.

I have a really problem. I need the parts, but I don't get a correct orientation of the parts.

I using Cure 14.07

Best regards

    Do you have 'Cut off bottom' configured with a negative value? (on the 'Advanced' tab). That will raise the object above the bed.

    Or conversely, after you manually rotate it, can you set a 'cut off bottom' value to bring it down onto the bed?

    I've actually always had the problem that pressing "lay flat" would do the opposite too. An already flat object would become inclined. Therefor I never use the feature, but it always struck me as strange...

    @illuminarti

    Thank you for the very fast answer.

    The 'Cut off bottom' was not configured with a negative value.

    The workaround with manually rotate and set a 'cut off bottom' value to bring it down onto the bed works fine.

    best regards
