Printrbot Metal settings

Hi,

Setting up Cura for the Printrbot Simple Metal, I was surprised to see that the settings were not correct. It has a nozzle size of 0.5 mm (the printer ships with a 0.4 mm nozzle), and the starting Gcode is not correct. What's going on? Why have a canned profile that is not correct? Am I missing something? The recommended settings are there on the Printrbot website.

cura is made by Ultimaker primarily for Ultimaker printers. Being able to use it with other printers is just a bonus. While I'm sure that daid (the main developer) tries to keep up with changes and errors regarding other printers, his time is limited. Instead of sounding snarky you could just have politely informed everyone of the mistake.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound snarky. I'm seeing Cura used in a lot of places now, and thought that it was being maintained for the general community with the generous support of Ultimaker. I was genuinely surprised and wondering if the settings that I thought were incorrect for other slicers were somehow better when working with Cura.

At work we have both Ultimakers and Printrbots, and it would be nice to be able to use the same slicer for both.

I guess my original post was also a plea for someone to post the proper Cura settings for the Printrbot Metal, though I didn't come out and say it directly. I know enough about the Printrbot to be able to tell that something is wrong, but not enough to definitively say what I think the full set of proper settings should be.

I'm actually in conversation with Brook about fixing these things. But as my time is limited, as well as his, I'm depended on feedback and links to proper information. (you know, I do not have these printers)

If you could link the info from the printrbot site that would save me a shitload of searching, and I will update it for the next release, thank you.

Here's a link with what seems to be a good set of Cura parameters for the Printrbot simple metal:

Reading this thread again I feel I was maybe a bit unnecessarily harsh. Sorry about that.

It's most likely the other topic that's actually aggravating you ;-) we still love you.

You do have a point. Ultimakers are my main concern. Everything else is just extra. But that does not mean that a few easy tweaks for other users can be made to satisfy their needs better.

Latest RC should have these changes now:
