Dual extrusion kit installing left to the existing nozzle?

Posted · Dual extrusion kit installing left to the existing nozzle?

Hello community people,

I would install dual head upgrade but I used another 3d printer before and there has been the second nozzle installed left to the first nozzle. When I will install second nozzle behind the first nozzle the build volume will decrease in Y axis or Not? Or can I also install the second nozzle left to the first nozzle to not decrease any build volume axis lenght?

Regards

I did it and its working well and I cant find a reason for loosing built volume. If you have one nozzle its the same as having two installed, and for the second it doesnt matter if you mount it back or left - the offset will be always app. 21mm...

But thats just my 2 cents.

B.t.w. I also designed a special fan shroud made of alu sheet metal to support this config.

    Thanks for your feedback.

At the moment I (Ultimaker Original Plus) have some Y axis limitation: with only one nozzle installed the nozzle hits

right-back glas retainer in Y axis at 206mm. X axis I can reach 210mm without any problem.

after my first answer, went upstairs to check it.

indeed my sec. nozzle drops off the heated bed.

in x axis you can use the full length.
