  1. Ok I have an older ultimaker, early 2012 with no upgrades and has been sitting on the bottom shelf of the closet for almost 2 years. 2 days ago i started again with the latest firmware and latst cura. I was able to print a pretty good calibration block. however, yesterday i was heating up the extruder when suddently the blue led on the top of extruder went out and communication with the printer also went out. When i plugged in the usb cable to a usb port on the monitor all those ports shut down. this happened only once I still see the arduino in windows hardware settings and i am able to upload new firmware via cura. The communication checks in cura seem to be ok but still i am not able to connect. When plug in the USB cable alone the fan starts spinning slowly, i see 2 green leds burning on the PCB and a fast blinking orange on the arduino. so: - Arduino still recognized in windows - fan is turning slow with only usb cable, full speed with power cable - no blue led on extruder - no connection in cura - still able to upload new firmware what could be wrong ?
  2. after 3 months i still have not been able to produce a decent print. my prints are about 1.6 to 1.7 times to high. I think the main problem is the z axis. The threaded rod is 300 mm long, when mounted there is a gap of about 5 mm between the top plate and the rod. is the rod too short ? my guess is it should be 310 mm. also it is also not aligned with the mounting hole the second problem is the lead bolt on the print bed. its loose, how do place it firmly ?
  3. actually i just got somewhere by using a raft its not perfect but its definatly an improvement
  4. My prints keep failing and I cant figure out why. ive taken appart the extruder twice, cleaned it and put it back together, there is no leakage. I keep having feeding issues. the gear doesnt move when its supposed to, i checked everything thats on the wiki + some stuff thats not on there but the first layers keep failing. they dont stick enough and get grabbed by the extruder. any other tips ? cause i'm about to put it on ebay i am using netfabb now
  5. yeah found that out 2 days ago
  6. I think you need a heated bed is this PLA or ABS ? this effect is the worst with ABS, but normally should not appear with PLA
  7. finaly managed to print something that looks like the 0.5 mm thin walled cube. extruder is clogging up, need to take it appart
  8. ok making some progress turned out the distance betweeen the nozzle and the bed was stil a bit to high, first layer is sticking now still having feeding problems thou. i am printing with a gcode mseeker provided me
  9. Can i download some printready goce files somewhere. i still havent been able to produce my first print so I am looking for a gcode file that has been known to print wel so I can determine wether the problem is on the printer itself or replicatorg/skeinforce a simple object should suffice
  10. I only have E codes on the first layer. i'll check back in this afternoon, little bit sick right now
  11. Yeah theres pla coming out of the sides Ill check tomorow for the codes and im going straight to marlin
  12. it was disabled warming up the extruder right now dint fix it :( extruder gear just wont move :( some material is coming out but not nearly enough
  13. the z axis is fine. the main problem seem to be the extrusion itself. I can move the extrusion motor fine in the control panel and material comes out, but not during printing. the extrusion gear just wont move + the motor is pretty hot
  14. my print keeps failing :( the x axis sometimes seems to block, once it has done that the axis cant move at all until a complete system reset. it seems that once the x limit switch on the front left is hit, the axis is stuck if i can get past that, it prints 1 line but then the z axis moves up like 2 mm in 1 step and the material doesnt stick on the bed
  15. The wooden parts are mirrored in the pictures. Igot it assembled
  16. I think i got it fixed, im going to start it up tomorrow and see if the prints are straight
  17. I am assembling my printer right now I seem to have a serious misalignment on the X-Y axis when i move the extruder to the front left the distance to the left is 5.5 mm, when i move it to the back left its 6.5 to 7 mm. How do i fix this ?, the manual isn't very clear on this
  18. I got it DHL did mess up however, driver saw a stop sign due to roadworks and labeled my shipment als undeliverable, so I yelled on the phone to the DHl desktop and a few hours later it arrived
  19. Guess mine is in there somewhere . If not stll awesome for the effort. If its in there i expect to get it tomorrow. Only live 100 km away
  20. Do you need to use the standard firmware with netfab or can you use marlin with it. I'm looking at the demo version and seriously considering buying it
