    Yes, I would agree that if you use the Wham Bam, it could be too warm for the Ultimaker / Lulzbot / machines that would have their electronics completely covered up.  Wham Bam does offer some printed parts to raise the enclosure up into the air so there is some airflow from below.  

     

    I encountered some issues with the 3D Print Clean enclosures with my Ultimaker S5's when the lab space got warm in the summer.  We added several heat pumps to that lab and now the room stays at 70F and monitor the enclosure temperature to make sure it isn't too warm.  (We can increase the air flow to keep things in a safe range)

    I've been using the PrintedSolid top/front door enclosure for my Ultimaker 2+  Depending on your budget, you can purchase a BOFA 3D Print air filtration device ($999 or more) or check out the 3D Upfitter Carbon Air Filter ($60) that could fit in the back.  Here's how I did it for my UM2+  

     

     

     

    I don't have the specs for the UM S3 but I suspect it would fit under the WhamBam Hot Box Mega.

     

    It fit around the large Lulzbot Taz 6 and even a generic (Eryone) 300 x 300 x 400 3D printer.  Add your fire protection device, your air filtration system and off you go.

    We have a pull request open to warn the user if the flow rates of the cores are exceeded (e.g. when changing speed, layer height, flow settings). So hopefully we will guide the user better in the future.

    I've been using 0.8 nozzles for a long time and find 0.25 layer height gives great detail and reduced layer lines, especially on large prints.  That means less post processing for me - think sanding, filler, sand, prime.  Rinse and repeat.

     

    That said, the "Balanced" profiles should be labeled as experimental, which they are.  

     

    I was hopeful that owning an Ultimaker S5 (well, 7 of them!) would mean that the latest version of Cura would be thoroughly tested on your native machines.  

     

    Your last few releases have been plagued with bugs that are painfully obvious to your customers and users.  Please slow down.  Test thoroughly.  Gather input.  Don't be pressed to release until it's truly ready.  (I come from a software dev background, so I know what you're probably up against.)

     

    Usually I wouldn't jump in and try a newest version but I did this time.  And it set me back a few days and plenty of wasted material.

  5. Yes, I had tried the "new" balanced "fast" printing setting that clearly the Cura team didn't test adequately.

     

    Very frustrating as we have a media event today that is coming to see our fleet of Ultimaker's in action.

     

    I'm now re-slicing in 5.3 and re-printing since these newest builds are totally unreliable and untested.

    I can't post the data due to security but I just finished a print that used trees supports and adaptive layers.

    Default settings on the Ultimaker S5 using Tough PLA and the Normal profile (0.15 layer resolution).

     

    I noticed with Adaptive Layers checked on, it wanted to go as thin as 0.05 layers and figured it would be an interesting test.  

     

    Support Z distance was 0.4 and that usually works very well.

     

    However, with Adaptive Layers (AL) ticked on, I didn't see where it adhered to that z distance for the support interface.

     

    I wondered if anyone else has observed some issues with AL and prints that utilize supports?

    I have tried it again with custom parts for a customer, the material here is CPE Yellow from Ultimaker. The error pattern is the same since cura 5.0. The material flow is not 100% at the nozzle here and shows up at the Z-seam with under-extrusion. 
    I can therefore not take any of the standard profiles from Ultimaker without adjusting the settings for simple customer parts, despite Ultimaker printer and Ultimaker materials. 

    I'm afraid I can neither understand nor confirm the opinion of the printing experts at Ultimaker that these would work.

    Is that printed on an Ultimaker machine?

    I know I have added frequent core cleanings to my routine and amazed what comes out using the cleaning filament sticks from Ultimaker.

     

    I find the default profiles for Ultimaker machines tend to work alright.  However, on my other machines at work and home, I stick to calibration testing for each material.  Temp Tower, Slicer Flow settings and then on the retraction tests just to be sure.  I print large, multi-day prints so I try to get it right the first time.

    Either way, how do I configure Cura in such a way that I get a brim around the tree supports without having to have a brim around my print?

     

    Yes, this is what many of us have reported.  Hopefully they fix this soon.  

    After numerous failures I've had to go back to 5.3.1 until this is sorted out.

  9. I'm trying to say nice things about the new machine but .. I have 7 Ultimaker S5's I purchased for work.  The WhamBam bedsurface works great, probably as good or better than the S7.  All that wasted space for an air filter is really sad.  No increase in print volume.   (Our machines sit inside 3D PrintClean enclosures that have fire suppression and air filtration already covered)

     

    While I am glad to see they take air quality seriously, doubling the height of the machine without any gains in print volume is disappointing.

    I'm glad you mentioned this.

    Recently if I use Cura all day on my Windows 10 laptop, I'll eventually get some serious stutters or a crash stating OpenGL has failed.  I try to make sure the bigger resource hogs, like Chrome or other browsers are not running while I am trying to do large print slices.

     

    Also, I do not understand why Skirt Height was changed to two?  If you can't remove skirt layers at one layer, you're a bit of a dope 😀

  11. I have been using the plugins Auto Towers and Parts for Calibration and Cura is completely ignoring the temps I have specified with Post Processing.  

     

    It seems glued to whatever temperatures are setting within the Materials section.

     

    Doing some testing here - so if the first layer of the temp tower needs to be 220C, set Initial / Printing temp to 220

     

    If the end of the temp tower is 190C, make sure the Final Printing Temp is 190C

     

    I'm not sure what broke in this version.  (But they managed to break support brim too!)

  12. I'm not sure what causes this but I generally Duplicate a Generic Material (like PLA) to create new entry for the material I am using.

     

    Frequently, while filling out the Display Name, Brand and such, Cura will "hang" or pause.  Sometimes it comes out of it, allowing me to fill in the information

     

    Many times I have to close Material Manager and open it again.  

     

    Wish List - I have 15 different machines and I would like to see a field for "Machine" in the Material Library.  If you have many different machines in your print farm, organizing different materials in the Materials Manager can be quite challenging.
