    Ninja flex

Thanks Zumfab, at some point I will catch up with everyone and know what is going on. Is there a comparison of all the most current extruders that have been created and offered up? Do most of the folks here that are using the U2 and are advanced printers have a modified or different extruder? Thanks My temp sensor cable is faulty and I will have to replace it maybe now is the time to also look into changing my extruder too something a little better as well.
  2. I was just at my local print shop picking up some filament and he showed me Ninja flex filament. VERY COOL. Unfortunately, I don't think it would work on the ultimaker2 due to the way that the filament is pushed not pulled. Has anyone else seen it or had experience with it? My time with my Ultimaker2 has made me realize that as much as I love several aspects about it, I think the extruder pushing the material through the bowden tube for a long distance is potentially inferior to an extruder that pulls. Any thoughts? The examples that I saw of the Ninja flex printed very nicely on Lulzbot and Replicator Just found this thread. Great information here. http://umforum.ultim...arison/?p=50375
  3. The temp sensor error seems to keep raising its head. I contacted Ultimaker support. The suggestion is to order the new Sensor cable You can find it in our shop via this link: https://www.ultimaker.com/products/um2-parts-pt100-b-sensor I will order and replace that and hope that it corrects my condition. I will update the post after I have done it just to let everyone know. Has anyone else had this issue and replaced the wire? Any tips suggestions or how to's? Thanks
  4. Cura will not install on my mac ever since I updated to Mavericks. Daid, was working on a possible solution, but I haven't heard anything in awhile and suspect it is more likely an issue with my permissions or APL on my mac not allowing it to install. I have Cura 14.03 on my other computer, so I may try to just go back to that machine install the latest version of Cura on it and update my firmware through it. Hmmm... don't have a surface temperature probe, but I might have to get one. I have been printing at temps ranging from 210 -225 just to see if I can get some different results. I have also adjusted the bed temp in various increments between 60 and 75. I am trying models that I have successfully printed with this material at the same temps that I have printed them in the past. I am printing a PLA that I have used for several previous prints with no problems. Thanks for the help troubleshooting, I have to admit I am feeling a bit defeated.
  5. I spoke to soon, not long after posting the note above, I have been fighting with the same issues. I received another temp sensor error. Checked the plugs etc... and it hasn't come back again. But, neither has my ability to print. I really am suspecting that the nozzle temp is fluctuating. Sometimes the filament extrudes normally and other times it will stop extruding all together. I keep trying to unplug the nozzle, re-level the build plate etc... I have not upgraded the firmware as I was really hoping to get Cura working. Do you think this could have any effect on things? Is there a method for measuring nozzle temperature with an external device?
  6. Whewww! A long frustrating weekend of failed prints etc... but I think I am back on track again. Thanks.
  7. Thanks Guys, I am using the same PLA that I have been using for the past month. I did take the plate off and wash it. I have not updated my firmware, as I have been waiting to get the Cura update resolved. I have been corresponding with Daid on another thread to see about getting it installed. I did finally get a print last night to start sticking and build, but it was ugly. I will try again today and see if I can work the bugs out. If I continue to have issues I will post some pictures as you suggest. I hadn't posted this yet, so I will follow up now. When I tried to print again this am. the Temp sensor error occurred. This happened to me a few weeks back, and was remedied by reconnecting the plug a little tighter on the Temp 3 I did the same thing again and the error went away, but it seems as though the nozzle is now slightly plugged. I realize I am all over the place right now, but is it possible that my heat sensors are causing build plate and nozzle heat fluctuations and creating all of these issues? Or is the Temp 3 sensor only the build plate? Either way if it isn't functioning correctly could this be my issue or is it likely that I have several different unrelated problems.
  8. Hi guys I am at the end of my rope. I have been printing with success for about a month now. My last print was a few days ago and printed fine except the last cm. of the model didn't print correctly.(under extruded and then balled up. Anyway. Since then I have had no success getting it to print again. I have: Changed the material Cleaned the nozzle Atomic method. Cleaned and re-leveled the build plate. blue tape on build plate Glue on build plate. different brand of blue tape re-leveled the buildplate Adjusted build plate temp up to 75 and tried, down to 60 and tried changed the fan speed changed the material flow. IT JUST WONT STICK!!!!! Any suggestions I am at the very end of my wits. Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi Daid, I sent the log to Marrit Hoffmans at technical support. I assume you will get it that way. If you would like to get it to you another way. Just let me know. Thanks for everything. Q
  10. Hi Daid, Thank you. I downloaded and tried to install and open. It opened and immediately came up with the message Cura Error with my options being open console or terminate. As I scrolled through the console text (not knowing what I am looking at or for) I saw many errors. Perhaps I could email you the console error text? If that would help. Thanks again for your work on this.
  11. Thanks Daid, You are probably receiving my requests for support on both ends then. Thank you for looking into it. I look forward to finding a solution. If there is any way that I can help with feedback etc.. just let me know.
  12. Hi guys, just thought I would check in and see if anybody had any ideas. I have an email into ultimaker support now, but I am anxiously waiting to print
  13. Just a quick update, I used a combination of Osirix, c4d, and z-brush and was able to get a nice clean printable mesh from dicom data available
  14. You may look at geomagic. How does one procure dicom data. Is there data available for commercial use? I see that there are samples at pixmeo, but didn't know if you could purchase or acquire data for use through any other sites. I am interested in making use of CT data or other medical imaging data but have not set about finding the methods to acquire or convert it yet. Have you made use of Pixeo or OsiriX to convert the data? it seems that Osirix will convert to obj or .wrl which could then be cleaned up in z-brush,Maya, c4d or your favorite 3d modeling program. I would really love to hear what anyone may have learned or encountered. I will try to add my 2 cents as I learn. Thanks
  15. Ok, sorry, I was out of town for awhile on business and vacation. I opened the console and... The terminal shows a line that says Failed to create directory: / Users/useser/.cura/14.06.1 at the end there ios a line that says the time followed by Cura [364:507} Cura error logout If I open the console there is a huge list of processes towards the end I am seeing errors but I am not sure what I am looking for here. If I had to guess it looks like it has something to do with either a security error or directory error. Is this similar to the error you were having Nicolinux?
  16. Ok, this sounds really dumb, but how do you open the package. When I right click there are no show package contents options. I know I have seen it there in the past. I did notice that there is a newer 14.06.1 version. I downloaded it and tried again. But received the same error.
  17. I updated to Mavericks, re-downloaded Cura 14.06 and I am still getting the same problem. Any thoughts?
  18. Thanks for the link to the picture of the other end. The error message did not say specifically anything about the bed or the head. Simply Temperature error contact Ultimaker.com I will update my profile to reflect my location. The connections certainly weren't falling off loose, but didn't feel like they were fully seated. I did push them firmly back on, and will have to wait and see if it comes back.
  19. Just curious, what is the disconnected cable coming from or going to? Is it for future use or upgrades?
  20. OK, printing again, we will see if the Temp error comes back. Maybe that connection was loose. Thanks for the tip.
  21. Illuminarti, There is one cable that is not hooked up to anything. Is this supposed to be that way? One red wire and one brown wire. you can see it in the photo. The connection on temp 3 seems loose, but it doesn't seem to clip on any tighter I still don't think I attached the photo the right way. I need to go back and review how you said to do it. I apologize in advance if I have uploaded the photo in the wrong place or wrong way.
  22. I am in Colorado. I will take the cover off as you suggest and see if somehow the connections came loose. When I first received the machine, the screen wouldn't work and it turned out to be a cable was disconnected. I will post more when I have a chance.
  23. I have been printing with great success lately, and then....... My machine stopped working and the LED screen says temperature error contact ultimaker support. I will be contacting support, but until I hear back I am anxiously wondering what has happened. I shut it down and restarted. It seemed to start working and then slightly after starting a the print the same error occurred. Thanks in advance, Q
  24. Hi guys, I have had my machine for awhile now and print something everyday. Despite, the constant whirring of the machine, I would love to hear peoples tips regarding model positioning and rotation and how it effects printability and quality. I realize that every model has its own set of tweaks etc.. that will help it print better. So as an example I would like to talk about a model that was recently put up by the smithsonian from their collection. (Very Cool!!) You can download a print ready version of the wooly mammoth skeleton from the collection. It loads into Cura standing up. Based on overhangs etc... my first inclination would be to put it on its back legs straight up. Unfortunately, that means that the supports structure debris will be on a very visible portion of the model after it prints. Any thoughts on how to best approach something like this? Another thought would be to break it up into parts that I could print and then assemble. I look forward to hear what everyone thinks. Q
  25. Thanks for the information Daid, is this true of the newer mac operating systems as well? Any insight as to what my issue is currently, or should I just chalk it up to a miracle that it is working on my other machine? I need to update to a newer OS, so maybe this is a nudge to do so.
