  1. Thanks Hummel, I still haven't figured it out. For now I am just using Cura on my old machine until I figure out what the issue is.
  2. My apologies. I am running OSX 10.6.8 Maybe that answers my own question. Perhaps the OS is too old? Hmmm.. I just looked and I am using cura 14.03 on my other system which is also OSX 10.6.8
  3. I have Cura 14.06 on one machine. It seems to work great. I have another machine that I tried to download and install it on. When I launch the app. I get a message saying. Cura Error options are to open console or Terminate. If I open console the last recorded error says.[2265} Exited with exit code:255 I deleted the application and re downloaded, installed and same message. Any suggestions. Thanks
  4. Thanks, I ended up at 238 and 50 as suggested on blue tape and finally got things working well. I did slow my print speed down as well. Sorry for the alarming 338 degrees typo.
  5. I just received a roll of t glase 3mm. from taulman3d actual measurement is 2.75-2.8 Has anyone used this, does anyone have any suggestions for printing temps? I can't seem to get it to the bed or blue tape. Thanks for any help.
  6. Hi guys any other feedback or opinions about using meshmixer on a mac? The link above from Andwesw for making supports in zbrush is very helpful. For me Meshmixer appears to open, but hangs and then crashes.
  7. I too am unable to get meshmixer to run on my Mac. Any solutions to this? I made my own supports in zbrush on the last model, but I think I will need to get a feel for where and how best to support a structure. It would really help to see how meshmixer creates them on complex objects to begin to understand where and how to place them.
  8. I am new to this, but have already found that if I could monitor it remotely, I would want the ability to see the statistics, maybe tune, and absolutely abort. Has anyone already come up with a solution for this? Thanks, Q
  9. This is a helpful thread for those of us trying to find answers to common printing problems. Is there a place in Cura to set the temp for the first layer? I have looked and cant see where I can set that up. Perhaps I tune it just before it prints then lower the temp once the first layer has printed? Thanks,
  10. Thanks gr5 I will see what I can do with meshmixer it looks very promising.
  11. Thanks for the feedback and great information Jonny. Is there a way to create more support in specific areas? My current build does fine with support in 80% but there is a sphere that always breaks loose and eventually comes off the build plate while printing. Maybe I should put a sacrificial block on the bottom of the sphere to cut off later? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  12. Sorry I am new to this and just trying to catch up on techniques and terminology. Please bare with me. What is Brim? What is Cristal and where did you get it? Is the glue stick that was sent with the U2 not the best method and should it be cleaned off and reapplied with each print. Sorry for the basic questions. I have only had it for 2 days now.
  13. Are there any detailed photos this process? If I attempt this which looks to be soon I will take photos along the way and post if it could help anyone else.
  14. This is a brand new U2 have only made 2 prints before it stopped extruding entirely. First 2 prints were very underextruded. White square is all the way at the top, now. It shipped to me set 2 marks from the bottom and was very difficult to originally load the included blue material. I heated the nozzle and removed the filament clipped it fresh, re fed the material which seemed to move to the nozzle without difficulty, and a tiny little amount emerged from the tip. I try to push the material manually with a hot tip or by using the advanced setting (move material) Neither one allows the filament to move. I really feel like the tip is clogged.
  15. I am having the same experience. Any luck? I have tried changing material, heating the nozzle and moving the filament manually, tiny amount comes out during manual movement. Extruder tension wheel moves back and forth, I have tried adjusting to both ends of the range and switching materials to see what I can do. No luck
  16. I just received my UM2 and have made 3 prints that were already on the SD card. I set the build plate as instructed, applied the thin layer with the glue stick and printed at the preset SLA setting as well as hotter 260 to see if it would effect my quality. I am using Blue PLA 2.85mm. Is there a guide or steps to follow to refine print quality or troubleshoot the quality. I don't know where to begin with adjustments. I know it will become more obvious with time and each model will require specific settings. I am just looking for general direction to head. I will post a photo of the quality I am at now as soon as I figure out where and how. Thanks,
  17. I was able to re-connect the ribbon cable and resolve my issue. Thanks for the help.
  18. Thanks Illuminarti, I apologize for the multiple posts, i didn't see it posting anywhere and thought it was an error on my end.
  19. I just received my Ultimaker 2, Very excited, I just unboxed plugged everything in and ......... -No display on LCD screen -rotating click wheel or pressing click wheel does not make noise or cause any movement of the head. -I thoght perhaps the connector for the LCD screen may not be plugged in good, however I cannot access the screw heads as the build plate is at the bottom with the glass panel underneath wrapped in bubble wrap. HELP>>>>>> Please.
