  1. I have had my UM2 for a couple of weeks. It arrived with a blocked nozzle and I unblocked it with the Atomic method. I have made about 15 prints so far, each of several hours. Last night the nozzle blocked mid print. I had changed the settings from 50mm/sec to 80 to speed up a print with an stl of 80Mb! I restarted the print and it started and blacked after an hour. Now unblocked with the atomic method again. My filament also looks stretched as the OP's. I am only printing with PLA. Surely it should not block this frequently?
  2. I wish to print a model of the calcaneum (heel bone). I have converted a CT scan and the STL is 80Mb in size. As the calcaneum is a solid bone, I assume that the slicing takes some time. I did get to the point of having the gcode with a 30 hour print once. I want to make some changes to speed up the print - such as scale down the model and increase the print speed but now Cura simply gets stuck when building the gcode. Is this a known problem with Cura that it cannot cope with big files Thanks TM
  3. For no apparent reason, my UM2 stopped printing and no PLA was coming out the nozzle. I assumed that the print head nozzle was blocked and found the atomic method for unblocking. I followed the process a couple of times. When the head was at 240 I could push on the filament and PLA came out. On cooling I withdrew the filament and there was no debris. I reassemble and still hardly any thing coming out the nozzle. Thought I would try the atomic method again. However I now cannot pass the filament down to the print nozzle as there are two wires in the way. I assume that they go to a fan. They are at the level of the little spring just above the nozzle. As I got the UM2 ready assemble I do not know how to takes things apart to get to these wires So I have two problems. No extrusion without the nozzle being blocked and now wires in the path of the bowden tube Fed up B
  4. Can someone help me as I am new to 3D printing? I am trying to print a model of a clavicle. On Cura before saving the gCode it says it would take 6 hours to print. When I put the SD card into the Ultimaker2 it again says it will take 6 hours. However the print stops after 1 1/2 hours and only 25% of the model is printed. Why would this happen?
  5. I am new to Ultimaker2 and 3D printing, so please go easy I am printing out models of bones. The raft does not stick overly well to the baseplate. I only have a thin layer of glue on the heated plate. In the expert settings in Cura it is set for the fan to be off until 0.5mm. Would it better to have the fan off a longer? You guys are talking about the base plate temperature. Can that be set in the gcode or can it only be set on the U2? Do I have to set it for each model or once changed does it remain? If I have to change the setting on the U2 is this easily found in the menu??? Thanks MM
  6. I am new to 3D modelling. I am trying to convert CT scan of a bone to model. I have used 3DSlicer to convert Dicom to .stl. However I still have a large piece of the rest that the arm was on included in the model. I want to find an easy way of selecting part of the model and discarding it. I thought that I might be able to do this with Meshlab but the program will not let me select a rectangle. In fact Meshlab keeps crashing so is of little use! Is there a simple program I can use to do this and tidy up the model? Thanks
