  1. I would also think that the PT-100 is the issue. Before you replace everything, I would suggest to remove it and give it a good visual inspection. Sometimes the metal cover around the PT-100 is dented from the factory assembly where the set screw is tightened with power tools and a little too much torque sometimes. In such a case, the metal cover does not have enough contact with the block. People have reported success fixing this by applying a little bit of heat conducting paste. You might give that one a try. Just make sure that you use a regular heat paste and not a heat conductive glue as you want to be able to remove the PT-100 later.

  2. What exactly is your problem with it?

The placement. If I am in your shop, I want to see it. If I am in your community area, nothing is sold there, so I do not want to see it. I think it was even you that said in a thread, that promoting stuff in the community/forum is a gray area and should be kept low.

  3. @reibuehl, fixed your username for you :)

We continue to look into the email issues.

Thanks for fixing the username! Do I need your help again if I would switch back to my other account later?

BTW: Since switching to the account where Greylisting is turned of, I get the mail notifications. Your mail server seemed to have buffered at least a week of mails (48) for me. So it might be worth to have a look into your mail logs for further debugging this. And maybe in your mail queue - I could imagine that there are larger amounts of mails hanging there...

  4. I think I know now why some people seem to get email notifications and others are not: The email system used to send them is most probably not handling Greylisting correct. I wanted to test that by changing my email to a non-greylisted address but now my username reibuehl seems to be gone and the system shows the new email address as as username.

This forum software is an unbelievable pile of sh.t. :(

  5.

@SandervG Should the mail notification work by now? I am subscribed to a lot of topics but have never ever received an email notification for any of those even though there are new replies and I also get notified about those in the forum via the built-in notifications. Sometimes these even take me to the last unread reply...

  6. Hi All,

I would like to use a photocell sensor to pause my UM2 when the filament gets close to the end. I noticed that the change notes for Marlin 1.1.0RC2 talks about a feature called FILAMENT_RUNOUT_SENSOR. I assume it is not possible to backport that to Ultimaker2Marlin without major changes, am I right?

    Best regards,

    Reiner

  7. The bug that was in the notifications that lead us to blanc pages is resolved, and everyone should be directed to the dedicated post!

If this is not the case for any user, please report this to me directly.

Does this mean that I should be directed to the new reply if I click on a "new reply notification" now? If so, it does not work for me. I still land on the original post on the first page of the thread.

BTW: Is there somewhere an explanation what the number in brackets behind "reply" means? I couldn't figure it out yet. It doesn't seem the number of new replies, it doesn't seem to be the page in the thread and if it is the number of the post within the thread, then where would I find the corresponding number in the posts?

  8. With my current computer I can see four topics at the same time in the new forum.

Using the same level of zoom (font size/readability) in the old forum I can see ten (!) topics at the same time.

Lucky guy! I see two at best if they are short on my laptop screen :(

  9. I would also like to reply on your comment about developing it in secret and releasing it unannounced.

I don't know about your involvement prior to this new forum, but in fact the new forum, its functionality and the development has been mentioned and discussed on our previous forum.

I have not said that you released it unannounced. I said apparently untested and I stand to that. Whatever was discussed on the old forum, it has apparently not helped to test BASIC functionality like jumping to replies, mail notifications, etc.

I was - in my opinion - a very active member in the old forum. And I am seriously considering walking away because of statements like "whatever you will say won't change my opinion". When the new forum started, I was very excited about it. I then saw that it had many flaws and tried to contribute with constructive error reports. But over the last days bugs and odd behavior in the system changed that more and more. And your reactions do not help there. This 'the bridge is not ready yet but we still drive over it full throttle since we are cool and know it better' attitude "destroys the vibe" as somebody earlier said here ;)

  10. My flow on the old forum was completely different than @titus but is as broken as his, so I will try to list my flow in a similar way to show you what could improve:

    1. I use my browser based RSS reader to see what new topics have been created in the forum - broken since there is now RSS feed anymore
    2. If I found topics that interested me or where I wanted to contribute, I opened the topic in a new tab and could immediatly read the topic - broken since even if I would have a link to the topic, I would have to login first
    3. If I subscribed the post for notifications and/or replied to it, I got automatically email replies when other people where posting in that thread - broken since there is no email notification anymore - at least none that ever sent an email to me since the cutover
    4. If I got an email notification and wanted to reply, I just clicked the link in the email and would get immediatly to the first new post where I could then quickly skim over the latest posts and reply - broken since there is no email and no way to get to the new posts
    5. If I post, I could easily upload a picture to include it in my post just from the editor - broken, now I need to first upload it to a web site or into an album. If I load it into an album, I manually need to copy the album link into the insert picture URL dialog since not even the Image Gallery works UPDATE: that seems to work now at least

So if the old system was capable of catering to two such different flows, it can't be that wrong. The new one fails on both flows - and many more as far as I can tell from reading the comments here.

  11. @SandervG it is nice to say over and over that you have a vision and so, but if the majority of the community you are trying to build up is of the opinion that they do not like your vision - and to me it looks like that! - than it might be wise to reconsider.

If the people just walk away because they are of the opinion that they do not fit into the UM vision, the whole community will die. I personally agree with all the others here and think that switching off the old, established forum and replacing it with what I would consider a barely working proof of concept was the wrong way. If you want to change something, make it better, not worse.

I do software projects myself and know that management of change and customer adoption are the most critical things in introducing new stuff. You have failed in both in my opinion! Secretly developing this new community and then, apparently without any previous user tests or fall back plans switching over to THIS has not worked.

You still have the old forum, why not switch it on again while the developers get the necessary time to implement all the changes that you got from this - lets called it what it is - rough beta test at the customer site? Then try again in half a year with an even better community software.

  12. Hallo Gregor,

    Reiner

  13. Small update:

    * remember me cookie fix

For me the remember me functionality is most definitely not fixed, unless coming back an hour later and having to login again falls outside of the "remember me" criteria. 3rd login today.

    Same here.

  14. @IRobertI, your greasemonkey fixes look good. Ready to share it?

It's very dirty, hard coded pixel values and such, doesn't respond well to tiny windows. But here you go: https://www.dropbox.com/s/spquyyvim985okn/UMCompactor.user.js?dl=0

If you go to a post via one of the notifications, the URL of the post seems to change and is not /en/community* anymore but for example /en/ultimakercom-feedback*, so it seems like more @include lines are needed - one for each sub-forum I assume.
