  1. Here are some of my space themed sketches, specifically the rocket, satellite, UFO, and asteroid. Tell me what you think! @3DofTom Wow… Awesome models! Just checked out your blog, how long have you been doing this?
  2. @SandervG While the "software cube" would be independant on the software page,I was thinking of also having the "software cube" inside of the rocket ship from the studiospass concept art.(I am working on my own version of the rocket) It would be visible through a window. It would stmbolicly tell the story of how software powers the hardware. How much emphasis does ultimaker want to put on the narrative portion of this? The reason I ask, is because you can only convey so much narrative in a printed art work @3DofTom Awesome work! It looks great. I look forward to seeing more.
  3. This a desgin I have been working with for a little bit. Figured I would show this to get some feedback. I created this drawing/ future 3d model to go on the software page. SInce these prints are supposed to be more narrative than just "there", here is my view on my artwork: Software needs be to rigidly defined and can not contain bugs or discrepancies, or else the software will not function properly. The rigidnes and solid structure of the cube embodies the idea of straightforward ness and ease of use like Cura, but the cube is still visually complex, just like Cura on expert mode. The divison of the main cube into several parts not only makes the model more complex, but also visually organizes the cube making it more asethtically pleasing.
  4. I was just looking at the image of the UM2 family on the website. The bowden tube for the UM2 extended looks like a 1.75mm bowden tube. Anyone else see that?
  5. Man, I just ordered a UM2. Hopfully they dont do a massive price drop :/
  6. Hey, how did you end up switching? What did you have to do? Any pictures?
  7. Couldn't you just go to your local glass shop and get them to cut you a build plate sized piece of glass?
  8. In general, at home filament extrusion is in its infancey, and there is a learning curve similar to learning how to build/use a reprap/ 3Dprinter. That being said once you figure out what your doing, you can make spool after spool of quality filament for $8/kg for ABS and around $12/kg for PLA. Having your own extruder also allows you to control what goes into to your filament. No more worrying about cloging your hotend (as long as you have a filter installed in the extruder) You also have a high degree over control of colors. Also, you can make whatever diamenter you need (1.75mm or 2.85mm). Your not limited to PLA or ABS either. I have extruded PP, PC, Nylon, TPE, TPU, and Acrylic, but I do not know if the UM2 can handle PC. You can see some of my work with the Filastruder at this link:http://www.soliforum.com/forum/23/diy-filament-materials/. The cost of pelltets for experimaental materials is cheap too. I want to try some of color fabs pellets, but with the purchase of my UM2 I need to be a bit more frugal.
  9. Most magnets would loose their magnetic force at the temps that are present in the hot-end.
  10. I am still waitng for my UM2, and I have 2 Filastruders Link:http://filastruder.com, and I make all of my own 1.75mm filament for my current printer. I have just started working with 2.85 on my extruders, and was wondering if there was anyone else out there that uses a filament extruder in conjunction with their UM2 or UMO(+). Also, if I make filament that is aorund 2.70mm with +or- tolerances of 0.05mm, would that work well with the UM2?
  11. The reason I ask is because it seems that people have problems with under-extrusion and skipping steps. This is geared design, so it should help. I have one installed on my Solidoodle 2, and when I get my Ultimaker 2 I intended to try it out. Does anyone have a geared feeder installed on their printer? I am not affiliated with reprapdiscount in anyway. here is a linkhttp://www.reprapdiscount.com/mechanics/64-bulldog-xl-extruder.html
  12. Same here, my account that I used to order no longer works. I sent support an email a couple days back, but still have yet to here back. I would really like to get my account fixed so I can see what my order status is.
