  1. Hi @nallath  Attached is the project file. The modifer was centered on the bed. If you open it, you would find it moved a little. You can center it again and save it. Then you reopen it, the modifier goes away again. This is only one example. And the model names by the plugin Mesh Tools are also lost after reopening the project file.

    Thank you!

  2. I come to understand the reason for the color change ---- the print speed change has some delay.

This lead to an issue ---- the bridge setting of lower speed would not affect the exact bridging range as much as expected.

Hope to know how you experts handle this situation. Thank you!

  3. When I reopen a project file, either by "Always open as a project" or "Always import models", some modifier meshes  are moved away from the saved position.

To speak frankly, in using Cura, I'm always worrying about losing my work, because saving a project file is far from a reliable way of saving the whole work. I fully agree with others' comments on profile compatibility in another thread.

This is really very dissapointing, and makes the software looking like being maintained by an open voluntary community but not a dependable company claiming "most advanced" or "most trusted".

I know that you are ocuppied with improving the engine, but still hope that some very fundamental issues be fixed or improved.

    Thank you!

    I don't know but I have a different technique - I don't use profiles.

Hi @gr5   I frequently backup the cura.cfg (C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\cura\4.8\cura.cfg). Is this safe for conserving all the settings (custom profiles, visibilities ...) when Cura is not upgraded?

  5. I know about Experimental > Enable Bridging Settings and all its options.

Below is a rea case of bridging

    • Figure 1: before bridging
    • Figure 2: bridging
    • Figure 3: upper layer on the bridging layer (not set as Bridging Second Skin)

    My question is:

Is it possible to make the bridging lines (Figure 2) go in the direction of its upper layer (Figure 3)?

If possible, most of the bridging lines would have shorter length.

    Thank you!

    Existing models are lost:

    • click/open an STL file
    • commandl line "cura.exe aaa.stl"

    Existing models are kept:

    • menu/open an STL file
    • drag/drop an STL file in Cura window

The issue makes it impossible to ADD a solid model from a modelling software directly to Cura.

I believe that the team should have noticed this. Hope it could be fixed. Thank you!

Why do you think that priting a solid bottom layer is a bad idea? it's the first time that i've heard anyone talk about it.

Hi @nallath   Generally the build plate might have certain roughness, and very often I observe that the resulting initial solid bottom layer looks very rough (observed during print, somewhere overextrusion, somewhere underextrusion), even if I think that my settins for the initial layer should be ok. Yes I'm also curious about why other people didnot report this issue. Glad to have your comments on this. Thank you!

  8. In my personal experience, printing a solid bottom layer directly on the build plate is often a bad idea. Generally I would set Initial Bottom Layers = 0 and print the initial 1~3 layers as infill of high density. I do this by adding a modifier block of the height of 1~3 initial layers.

Is there a better way for the job without bothering to add a modifier block? Thank you for sharing your practice!
