Posted · Cura 2.1 and Printrbot?

Downloaded the 2.1 beta, but was bummed to not be able to select printrbot as a printer. Are there genetic settings that can be used? Is there any word if printrbot is going to try to be an option. I read one post where a company just had to submit some .json info to be included in the 2.2 beta...

Thanks.

Mike

I tried contacting printrbot. They have expressed that they had no interest in providing such a file.

So sorry, you're on your own. If you make a machine definition file make a pull request. In that case it will be in the next release.

I you want to help, you could have a look at this thread on github:

    https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/715

Note that the machine definition file currently proposed there has a "special" start gcode according to the author:

    https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/715#issuecomment-214772800

If you could help with a better general purpose start gcode for the printrbot simple metal, we can work on getting it included in a future release of Cura 2.x

Thanks for the input. I am not sure my skill set includes creating a machine definition file, but if it does I will submit it. I have heard good things about 2.1, so hopefully printrbot gets onboard. =) Thanks again.

Thanks! Not sure I have the skillz, but will at least take a look and see just in case. Nice that someone has the leg work started.
