Better cable & wire management ?

I was looking through the assembly instructions and I see a lot of exposed wiring and everything tacked in place with painters tape. eg.

I was wondering what others have done to tidy things up; shrink tube ? cable-tie mounts ? expando-sleeving ?

On new kits the location of the cable ties are changed and it's quite possible to tidy it up better then I did.

Also, I move my machine a lot and that's why I taped everything in place. But I can tell, the tape is still there, after a year!

I doubt I'll be adding backpack straps to mine, but I expect it to get moved and inspected a fair bit. I didn't mean to pick yours out Daid, but it was the only good under-side shot i found.

No problem in picking mine, I actually took that photo to show people that you can secure everything with a few bits of tape.

Thanks Actually it's thanks to you that I did it in the first place. It's been bugging me ever since I first put the machine together but your post finally pushed me to do something about it.

The channels are indeed printed. They look like this:

The funky waves in the larger one was an attempt to reduce stress on the part to make it warp less but also functions as screw holes (I used sticky pads though). Unfortunately they still warped quite badly for me (anyone wanna donate a heated bed? ) hence the short pieces rather than longer ones.

I guess I could toss them up on thingiverse if there's interest?

To be honest I'm more concerned around the cabling that is run on the inside of the build area, particularly from the end stop switches. They have a tendancy to want to unravel and then touch the toothed pulleys, is there something I can do about that?

They should be in the black cableguides...

They are but the guides dont cover the cables where the pulleys are

Not to hijack the post, but what is the small circuit board you have hanging off the left side, Robert?

Just a simple LED driver for a couple of CREEs. It gets quite hot so I wasn't quite comfortable having it inside the duct. You can see the LEDs in the latest print thread towards the bottom
