Hi!

I have some strange behavior on the GUI. I have changed "Infill Overlap Percentage" from the default value (10%) to 15% and saved in my profile. After some experiments I changed the value back to 10%. Now habe have to messages:

if I press "i", the field value is still 10%, but now I have an other message

was actually is wrong, because these is no different to my profile value or to the default value.

Did you save your profile with 10% in it, or is it still set to 15%?

Because you said you changed it to 15%, saved your profile and then set it back to 10%.

But you manually set it back to 10, so it was not calculated - hence the 'i'.

If you saved your profile at this point, you save it as a manually entered 10 and not a calculated 10.

When you clicked the 'i' it calculated the field to 10, but that doesn't match your profile, because its still set to 15 (or a manually set 10).

So now you get an 'undo' arrow because 10 does not match your saved profile data.

Save your profile now with 10 as the calculated field and all should be good.

Manually set fields, even if they are currently the same as a calculated value, will not change when other fields that can affect it change. So even if manually set 10 is the same as calculated 10, you will always get a warning because Cura can't adjust it automatically.

DaHai8, thank you for the explanation!

Other strange Cura's 2.3 behavior on MAC OS X: sometimes Cura starts with "New Machine Assistant" and without my already added Printer. It really a little bit confusing because I need to change the Start/End GCode part each time it happens.

Maybe you know how to solve this problem?

If it starts with new machine assistant, it probably failed to load your old active printer, notices that you don't have an active printer so it tries to add one.

Could you give me your .log files saved by Cura. There should be some errors there that show what is going wrong.

For the rest, DaHai8 is right on all accounts :)

    Hi,

how can I send you the log file (I found it :))?

And now I can reproduce this bag: just create or update a profile, close Cura Application, open Cura again - that's it - "Add new printer" window.

It tries to load a profile that it can't find. By the look of it you also had 2.1 installed. We've found some issues with the 2.1 conversion scripts, so clearing your local files will already help quite a bit.

Yes, at first I installed Cura 2.1.3, then I deinstall it and installed Cura 2.3 ... and as a typical user I assume it should just work without something need to be clearing or some other magic staff.

You're right, but this is a beta. If you want stable software, don't get the beta ;)

      • UltiMaker Cura 5.3 stable released
In this stable release, Cura 5.3 achieves yet another huge leap forward in 3D printing thanks to material interlocking! As well as introducing an expanded recommended print settings menu and lots of print quality improvements. Not to mention, a whole bunch of new printer profiles for non-UltiMaker printers!

      • Here it is. The new UltiMaker S7
The UltiMaker S7 is built on the success of the UltiMaker S5 and its design decisions were heavily based on feedback from customers.

        So what’s new?
The obvious change is the S7’s height. It now includes an integrated Air Manager. This filters the exhaust air of every print and also improves build temperature stability. To further enclose the build chamber the S7 only has one magnetically latched door.

The build stack has also been completely redesigned. A PEI-coated flexible steel build plate makes a big difference to productivity. Not only do you not need tools to pop a printed part off. But we also don’t recommend using or adhesion structures for UltiMaker materials (except PC, because...it’s PC). Along with that, 4 pins and 25 magnets make it easy to replace the flex plate perfectly – even with one hand.

The re-engineered print head has an inductive sensor which reduces noise when probing the build plate. This effectively makes it much harder to not achieve a perfect first layer, improving overall print success. We also reversed the front fan direction (fewer plastic hairs, less maintenance), made the print core door magnets stronger, and add a sensor that helps avoid flooding.

The UltiMaker S7 also includes quality of life improvements:
Reliable bed tilt compensation (no more thumbscrews) 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi A 1080p camera (mounted higher for a better view) Compatibility with 280+ Marketplace materials Compatibility with S5 project files (no reslicing needed) And a whole lot more
Curious to see the S7 in action?
We’re hosting a free tech demo on February 7.
It will be live and you can ask any questions to our CTO, Miguel Calvo.

      • UltiMaker Cura Alpha 🎄 Tree Support Spotlight 🎄
Are you a fan of tree support, but dislike the removal process and the amount of filament it uses? Then we would like to invite you to try this special release of UltiMaker Cura. Brought to you by our special community contributor @thomasrahm

We generated a special version of Cura 5.2 called 5.3.0 Alpha + Xmas. The only changes we introduced compared to UltiMaker Cura 5.2.1 are those which are needed for the new supports. So keep in mind, this is not a sneak peek for Cura 5.3 (there are some really cool new features coming up) but a spotlight release highlighting this new version of tree supports.
