Hi Guys

Not been around since the forum upgrade I see there is still issues but anyway thought i make a post about my Ultimaker 3  For the last 6 months i have started a hobby/business (vapes3d.co.uk) printing vape stands and i have been designing simple dual color prints using the pause method for, but now i should be able to get more creative with the UM3

Here it is sitting in-between a couple of my other printers for now the other side of the room has my UM original so i have the whole family and a BigBox...

All packaging look fine no external damage and internally everything was fine and in its correct place, once i got the printer out of the box to give it a good looking over all was fine, all the rods were nice and tight nothing was lose like i had experienced before. then i could see some internal damage on the inside of the printer that looks like a production quality issue, where the assembler has scratched the inside of frame while fitting the motor cover on the left back.

For a £3000 + printer that is not cool how this got past quality control i don't know ? @SandervG

(update issue above resolved)

That aside the setup process  was straight forward and simple and taking in and out of the cores is quite easy no issues there, wifi was all good and talked to cura just fine....

I am halfway through a dual print a simple spiral cone just to see the results before moving on to bigger things which i will post here when finished...

Edit: Just noticed that the wire from the top left limit switch is rubbing against the belt from the motor so will need moving when the print is finished....

At least give them a day or two, jeez... There could be a reason for a slightly late response other than that they "only want to sell".

Looks like he has been waiting a few days. During normal business hours, it's normal to receive a response the same day, or the next day (that excludes weekends of course).

If a reseller can't do that... well i see no reason why they should have my money. That's how i run my business, and i think it's a bare minimum for customer/business relationship.

    Hi @Cor3ys,

I was wondering how it was going with your Ultimaker 3.

    Your prints look really great!

Did you already get a reply from your reseller?

    Hi @SandervG

I just got an email from them saying Ultimaker has told them to offer me a spool of filament is that correct a spool of filament for a cosmetically damaged £3000 printer ?

I would at least expect a complementary core ;-)

Hi Cor3ys, thank you for your reply. Good to hear that you have a reply so at least the ball is rolling, and the most important thing is that your Ultimaker 3 is working like it should. (Based on the pictures of the prints you have included in your first post).

About the offer, usually we don't go about 'telling someone to offer this or that' and we try to find a reasonable and mutual solution. We're sorry your Ultimaker 3 has arrived with some damage to the frames. If you are not satisfied with the offer you should feel free to tell this to your reseller as its customer and I am pretty sure we can come to a solution.

Feel free to send me a DM if you need more information or share some more insights.

Have a great day, and I am pretty sure we'll work it all out!

    Hi guys.

May I ask how many months the ultimaker 3 has been sold / shipped out ?

Its normal for most companies like this to have a few little errors at the begining of production ( production quality and control). Iv learned it really does help to wait maybe 2 or 3 months until the production people have worked out the little kinks... :)

But it Looks really great and the prints are very beautiful !

Congrats and have lots of fun.

    Ian Spring :)

    Hi Ian,

We launched it on October 18th so it has been approximately one month.

We physically started shipping it not too long after the launch.

    How are you doing nowadays?

Still using an Ultimaker in your new business?

    Hi Sander.

Thanks for the fast reply !

    Im very good thanks.

I just started with a new large medical production company in germany. Of course like always I like to have at least one nice ultimaker extended some where in my working enviroment... other wise I get a little shaky... ;)

Other than that.. life is good thank God.

    And yourself ?

    Ian :)

UM3 is great. Software needs some tweaking, but that should come soon.

    Hi @ian

It is made by E3D, it is PVA/PVOH-based but easy to print with low viscosity

You can read more about it here http://e3d-online.com/Scaffold-Support-Material

      • UltiMaker Cura 5.3 stable released
In this stable release, Cura 5.3 achieves yet another huge leap forward in 3D printing thanks to material interlocking! As well as introducing an expanded recommended print settings menu and lots of print quality improvements. Not to mention, a whole bunch of new printer profiles for non-UltiMaker printers!

      • Here it is. The new UltiMaker S7
The UltiMaker S7 is built on the success of the UltiMaker S5 and its design decisions were heavily based on feedback from customers.

        So what’s new?
The obvious change is the S7’s height. It now includes an integrated Air Manager. This filters the exhaust air of every print and also improves build temperature stability. To further enclose the build chamber the S7 only has one magnetically latched door.

The build stack has also been completely redesigned. A PEI-coated flexible steel build plate makes a big difference to productivity. Not only do you not need tools to pop a printed part off. But we also don’t recommend using or adhesion structures for UltiMaker materials (except PC, because...it’s PC). Along with that, 4 pins and 25 magnets make it easy to replace the flex plate perfectly – even with one hand.

The re-engineered print head has an inductive sensor which reduces noise when probing the build plate. This effectively makes it much harder to not achieve a perfect first layer, improving overall print success. We also reversed the front fan direction (fewer plastic hairs, less maintenance), made the print core door magnets stronger, and add a sensor that helps avoid flooding.

The UltiMaker S7 also includes quality of life improvements:
Reliable bed tilt compensation (no more thumbscrews) 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi A 1080p camera (mounted higher for a better view) Compatibility with 280+ Marketplace materials Compatibility with S5 project files (no reslicing needed) And a whole lot more
Curious to see the S7 in action?
We’re hosting a free tech demo on February 7.
It will be live and you can ask any questions to our CTO, Miguel Calvo.

      • UltiMaker Cura Alpha 🎄 Tree Support Spotlight 🎄
Are you a fan of tree support, but dislike the removal process and the amount of filament it uses? Then we would like to invite you to try this special release of UltiMaker Cura. Brought to you by our special community contributor @thomasrahm

We generated a special version of Cura 5.2 called 5.3.0 Alpha + Xmas. The only changes we introduced compared to UltiMaker Cura 5.2.1 are those which are needed for the new supports. So keep in mind, this is not a sneak peek for Cura 5.3 (there are some really cool new features coming up) but a spotlight release highlighting this new version of tree supports.
