Pre extrude more filament at print start?

I've been using ideamaker and it pre extrudes like 100mm of filament while nozzle has a high z height, making it easy to grab. Then it is clean while it moves in for first layer. Cura just pre extrudes less than 10mm and even if I manage to grab it, it dribbles a little more as it touches down and that bit just gets dragged around and caught on the nozzle.

Do I have to modify the gcode to get a longer extrusion and higher z before first layer? I want to use Cura for other settings but this first layer is always so crummy.

Printer: cr10s
