Move Carriage When Print Is Paused

Hello All!

 

I'm new to Cura... well, I'm new to all of this 3D printing!

 

Sometimes I need to pause the print process to pick out a some stringing before the area is enclosed.

When I pause the print, the hot end sits over the print and melts a spot on the print or leaves a blob on the print. I'd like to have the hot end move away from the print when the print process is paused. Is there a setting for this?

Nope. Ultimaker machines handle this behavior on the firmware level, so it's not something that we built into cura. Other machines might need it, but it's up to them to add it to Cura.

For static (pre-defined height/location) pausing, you could try to use a post-processing script. For dynamic (hitting 'pause' on the printer at any given time) there is no way the slicer could know that up front, so the printer firmware has to handle that (Ultimaker's do this properly, others might not).
