Tutorial for New Beginners

I'm looking for any guided information for beginners... Is there any in the Cura software.   Thank You

Not within Cura, but you can look at the Ultimaker website, there are some educational informations, also about Cura. I would say a good starting point. Then search the internet, I can remember that there are a few videos and tutorials. Not for the latest Cura version, but the basics and the settings are the same.

 

Another possibility is to search the forum here if you are interested in a a specific setting. We have a lot of discussions about specific settings, so the chance you find a good answer is high.

You may also want to check out our Youtube playlists. There are some about Cura software too, and even though the interface of Cura has changed, in the basics it is still the same and you might still find it useful.

I have access to an original Ultimaker, I installed Cura, I have no tool preference, and only yesterday learned that PLA stands for Polylactic Acid. Where is the real best place to start.

A bit late joining up here, anything more specific in terms of tutorial, getting to SandervG's youtube playlists with 101 videos in it, is like a shotgun load of data. I clicked on 9 videos in there, the hope of finding a how to get started clip, but not one of them, in those playlist list even come close to a "Hey, how do I start from zero?" . Is there a better "starting from zero" place to go that is just, well, hidden on the forums, thanks in advance?

I am responding to Zaphodikus and his 'ground zero' request for beginner tutorials regarding Tinkercad.

 

Having jumped into the concept of 3D printing this past September I've found Tinkercad to be a great tool! And there are several resources that have helped me and my students get started. 

 

1) Once you have your Tinkercad account established, look under the Menu heading of "Learn". There you will find Starters, Lessons, and Projects.  Starters is a set of 7 very basic tutorials. Read directions on the left. Do the work on the workplane then click continue and repeat. Each of the 7 tutorials will take you less than 7 minutes to complete and you (and your students if you assign these steps) will be 'rewarded' at the end of each tutorial with a 'firework of starts'! 

 

2) When you have completed Learn - Starters move to Learn - Lessons. I had my Ss doing the Luggage Tag lesson this past week. They enjoyed it!  In the Lessons sections the scaffolding of directions and the markings on the workplane go away and students are on their own a bit more.

 

3) Projects is the third layer of skill scaffolding. I've looked in this area but have not taken any students to this level. These are projects that will take a bit longer and add another level of complexity.
