where should this be located? either i am looking in the wrong spot or it doesn't exist. even searching for it your zip is the only place it shows up
Sorry, I'm not that familiar with Windows but I suggest trying the following. Copy the replacement IntentCategoryModel.py file into the Cura install directory (something like c:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 4.4\) and restart cura. If that isn't sufficient, you probably need to remove the original file (which has a .pyd suffix rather than .py) from the python35.zip file that is in that directory.
thanks for trying to help, but still not working. tired of messing with , just going to uninstall
Sorry I couldn't help. That fix worked for me when I got a similar crash. Please open an issue on github showing the image you have above so that the Cura devs will be aware of the problem.

The exact same error is happening to me as well.
I just installed 4.4 without uninstalling 3.4 because I just wanted to test the new version.
Windows 10 x64
I7 8700K
32GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce 1070 with driver 441.41

Same error here, tried to 'fix' the issue with the provided .py file, but that doesn't help (its located in python35.zip file).
I really hope we'll see a 4.4.1 soon (tm). ;-)
Hello
Registered me for this "fatal error".
Exactly same thing on my side.
Till Cura 4.3.0 everything went fine.
Since Cura 4.4.0 exactly same error messages like first post image
and cura won't start and closes.
My System similar to Post 1
Win10Pro 1809
I7-8700 CPU @3,2Ghz
16GB Ram
Nvidea GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
Newest Driver for Grafics
Newest Phyton 3.8 - also reinstall of complete Phyton 3.5 did not fix the fatal error
Please have a look!
regards
Michael
Had the same error dialogue after install as the OP and here is what fixed it for me.
Noticed the Visual C++ 2015 redistributable wasn't showing up in the windows apps list after Cura 4.4 installed, despite ticking the checkbox to install.
I tried manually installing VC++2015, but the install complained that there was already a version installed, despite not showing up on the apps list.
I ended up having to uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable in order to then install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable. Then voilà, it worked!
Hope this works for someone.
I've just downloaded 4.4.1 and I still get the same crash as I got with 4.4.
Windows 7 (64 bit) and Anycubic Mega S printer
I've submitted reports at the time of the crash.

Also still getting the error when starting up in 4.4.1. I submitted via "send report". I seem to get 4 instances of the crash report dialog
Starts fine on my laptop, this only occurs on my desktop PC
Added DXDiag screenshots with system info

I had this same issue and i got it resolved.
I went into my computer>user>(whatever your user name is)>appdata
(if you dont see appdata you need to show hidden files in that folder.)
now go into local and delete cura folder
then go into roaming and delete cura folder.
relaunch your program and it should work.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. I uninstalled 4.4 and installed 4.4.1 and it launched fine.
@Onefella's fix worked for me. Uninstall Visual Studio C++ 2017, reinstall cura, it will install the 2015 one. Works after that.

@glendleyoung's fix worked for me. Deleted the old AppData and it launched appropriately. Had to re-setup my printer but that was fine.
Edited by sageleaderOn whichever platform you are using, first uninstall Ultimaker Cura, then search for "Cura" and delete any folders that have user settings data from previous versions. (I deleted two folders named Cura) After a fresh install it works fine but you need to go and set your preferences to what you had before if you had anything.

It's a bug. You can work around it by replacing the IntentCategoryModel.py file mentioned in the dialog above with this file (zipped so it can be attached to this thread). Hope this helps.
