Just wondering if anyone has tried to 3D print an ultimaker.

Buy all the parts and such online.

Yeah, we've done it for some rough prototyping. We even went as far as to actually turn it on (even though a lot of it was printed with PLA). That was a really, really bad idea. The stepper motors got hot enough to make the PLA deform, so it broke down rather quickly.

Your best bet to get a cheaper printer is to lasercut the panels yourself (and source the parts somewhere else)

I wouldn't want to laser cut it. Just wondered if it could be 3D printed or if anyone had tried.

Maybe metal 3D printers can do that one day.

It's not an ultimaker but 3D printed 3d printers exist.

I did not build it and have no ideas of it's durability, but it's intresting to see the range of what is doable with a 3d printer!
