Combing - not working as expected

Hello,

I read about the function Combing, which should force the nozzle to move / or not to move over printed areas.

Now, I have a massive stringing problem with my printer and it could be reduced, when the nozzle would travel only over areas, where in the same or previous layer it was beeeing printed. But, as You can see in the STL picture, the nozzle takes the direct way. e.g. from A to B or from B to C.

These movements I have in the 3D print as strings.

Is there a way to force the printer to move not directly from A to B but go over the right wall and then turn left to point B?

I know, better would be to solve the stringing problem, but it wasn't yet successful.

Thanks,

Moritz

No dingbat, that's still not right. You did File -> Export but you have to do File -> Save.

    OK, next try.

What is the difference between "Save" and "Export", when both create a 3mf file but with different sice?

Export just includes the model(s) but Save includes the models and the settings. I have requested that UM alter that menu to make it more obvious but they weren't interested.

Anyway, when I slice your project I don't see so many direct travels as your image shows, what version of Cura are you using?

It becomes worse in the higher layers because of the openings on the sides for the plug connectors:

It's really hard do remove all the strings after printing.

Actually, I have the exact same problem here!

And it's driving me nuts 🙂

Same here, I try to use combing to avoid stringing but it is definitely not working as it should, and behaving precisely as described in this post.
