It's a bug since Cura 4, it stops working if you ever disconnected your printer from the Cloud.
No way I found to make it work again after that.
You need to export it to USB and from here on keep using the offline export, go to the printer(s) and put the USB in
Go to settings and import the new profiles.
I'm Stuck in an infinite loop of syncing material.

this stuff is two years old, why has this never been adressed by Ultimaker?

Same issue here, very disappointing that the bug is still present after two years.

Still a bug, it seems. I've just done everything but disassemble my Mac and S5 down to atoms and STILL can't get the S5 to sync with Cura 5.4.0. Worse, the S5 keeps trying to detect 3rd party materials (it won't) and will NOT stop "detecting" so I can't even print anything using the PLA I bought from Dynamism. Absolutely awful.

So now I am stuck syncing.
The price I paid for my printer, and it can't even sync the materials, and the bug's been around for many years.
Shame on you Ultimaker!
