  1. I also tried using this method: https://support.ultimaker.com/s/article/1667337567839 And again, failure. Have y'all just thought about fixing the issue? Photo attached of what I see whether it's a .umm or .ufp file.
  2. Yes, I just tried that with 2 different USB sticks, both seen by the S5, both had the .umm files exported from Cura, and still the S5 says "no new materials to import" or whatever (I will take a photo next time). There seems to be no way to get this to work, so I don't know what's next. Note: Firmware on the S5 is up-to-date. Cura is version 5.4. Surely I'm not the only person on the planet with this issue.
  3. USB sync also failed. The S5 does not see the .umm file that is on the properly formatted drive. I tried 2 drives, both were seen by the printer but when I try to import it says no new material profiles were found. I hope Ultibot/Makermaker takes this seriously because it's a real pain and reeks of anticompetitive behavior (ironic considering how good Cura is otherwise).
  4. I just tried Sync, it failed miserably. So I tried USB... the S5 doesn't see the .umm file. Tried 2 USB sticks, both formatted properly, and I really hope Ultimaker takes this seriously at some point.
  5. So what do we do if the S5 won't stop trying to detect? I'm guessing nuke the software (return to factory settings)? Oof.
  6. Still a bug, it seems. I've just done everything but disassemble my Mac and S5 down to atoms and STILL can't get the S5 to sync with Cura 5.4.0. Worse, the S5 keeps trying to detect 3rd party materials (it won't) and will NOT stop "detecting" so I can't even print anything using the PLA I bought from Dynamism. Absolutely awful.
  7. Well here we are a year later and my printer is connected, Cura is up to date, and yet sync materials just spins and spins. I managed to get it to sync ONCE -- and never again. On the Mac, it freezes up Cura entirely if you cancel out of the sync attempt. I now have the curious situation where Cura sees my S5 locally connected (blue check) but in Sync Materials shows the blue cloud icon... Either way, it is impossible to sync materials, causing major issues with printing some PLA that has different thermal properties and I need to adjust settings. We're wasting time and money on this and Makerbot seems to just not care.
  8. Thanks for this! I had no idea I had to clean the front fan every 90 days, but even though my fan still spins, it doesn't seem to be spinning fast enough to cool properly and I guess I'm having to replace it now. Hard to say, since Ultimaker doesn't have specs on the rotation needed and so *shrug* -- but I'm going to try both of these "mods" as I also have a Ender3 and don't want this to happen again to my S5 or to the Ender! This really seems like a design flaw in the S5, given its price and the fact that newer models have the fan placed to prevent the hairs from getting in the fan.
  9. Yeah since I'm just printing dozens of a thing for work, I"m just saving the good spool and tricking it manually. Apparently they have (finally) added the ability to manually enter the color. Huzzah! lol
  10. Who knows, for the money these cost. My suggestion: Keep spools that work on hand so you can slap them on, remove them quickly, and use the new spool which is obviously faulty. A firmware update that allowed you to be specific would be great, but here we are years later after OP and still it's not happening. My guess is because Ultimaker doesn't think it's enough of a problem and would rather punish users for using generic PLA. Ridiculous, but that's how it goes.
  11. I just ran into this issue yesterday, in 2022. Blue PLA from Ultimaker. Stopped halfway through a print, turned off the sensor and the print finished just fine. Astounding to me that it seems to be an ongoing issue without a resolution.
  12. I'm unable to print via wireless, so I tried USB... I'm unable to get anything to show up on the printer, can't select from USB (greyed out). FAT32-formatted drive, is there some magic combo? The pro bundle for some reason lacked a USB drive entirely (I assume there's firmware or something but I'll never know)
  13. Was there any resolution to this? I'm having the same problem. The printer IS on the network, Cura CAN see the printer , but after slicing I can only save the file, not print.
