STL imported with wrong dimensions

Hi Guys,

So I use an Ender 3 Pro with Cura and I recently had to print something for work.

I got the STL files from my colleague in the Mechanical Dept. and he exported them as STL with the dimensions set in inches. When I imported them into Cura the dimensions were completely off. Either 3 times the size either 10 times smaller (aproximations).

Has anybody come across this issue? When he re-exported in mm it seemed to fix the issue but still I expect this sizing to be done automatically or do I need some settings done on my slicer to convert inches to mm?

Thanks and sorry if this was already asked but I could not find it.

STL doesn't have units, so everyone working with them has to make assumptions about it. Cura makes the assumption that STL are in mm. The barbarian plugin provides an easy way to switch between the two.

I have the same problem and just want to know how to install the barbarian units plugin

If you have an account you can add it via the web marketplace: https://marketplace.ultimaker.com/app/cura/plugins/nallath/BarbarianPlugin

If you don't have an account, you can also download it directly in Cura. You can do this by clicking the "Marketplace" button that is located in the top right of the screen.
