Hi

I have been looking around for some, preferably free, software that will allow for easy manipulation of either stl or obj files. Im looking to be able to import two files, resize them and merge into one. Curious as to what various people use for this.

Funny that you should be needing this right now when I'm writing software to handle that task myself :-)

Well, actually it's supposed to be a new open source slicer with some nice features never seen before, but I haven't gotten that far yet, however what you're looking for is already implemented, maybe you want to be a beta tester :-)
