hello,

whenever i change the material, the profile also changes (to a default profile). when changing the profile, material specific settings such as temperatures will be reset to the profile specific values. this makes material specific settings pretty useless.

i have installed 'material settings plugin' 3.5.3 and 'printer settings plugin' 3.5.4 both by aldo@fieldofview.com.

what can i do to make material - and printer profiles usable?

thanks for any answer, g.

ps.: forgot to mention - i'm running cura-4.7.1

I think the intended method is to make the value in the quality profile (somehow) dependent on the material setting (in this example). So... use a formula in the quality profile instead of a literal value.

The developer wiki is a crucial source of information about those topics.

If a value is specified in the quality profile, that will override what is configured in the material. So if the quality profile contains a value of 220 for the hotend temperature, Cura ignores what is set in the materials pane of the preferences.

I'm working on an update of the Material Settings plugin that will make this somewhat clearer and lets you do something about it.

    my understanding was:

    1. configure and calibrate printer

    2. configure an calibrate profiles

    3. configure and calibrate for different materials

    4. select callibrated printer

    5. select profile

    6. select different materials without having to touch printer configuration or profile selection

    7. select another profile without having to touch printer configuration or profile(selection)

please tell me if i'm wrong and advise how to do it right.

    thanks
