Hi,

im a 3d artist and use 3ds max and maya for creating 3d art,

One useful feature Cura can benefit from (which will be a great time saver). is when you bring a model in Cura and watching the layers slice build up. watching each layer can be slow esp with a very dense model. You have to sit there and watch it each layer.

(no coffee break :( or go to the loo)

What will be an useful feature is doing a viewport render then creates a quicktime mov from that.

After you come back from you coffee break you can watch the quicktime mov file in realtime to spot errors.

We use this feature to spot errors in animation instead for finding them after rendering. As that will be a waste of time

All Cura has to do is when slicing each layer saves the viewport frame each time. After all the layers slicing is done complies the frames into an quicktime mov.

Actually as cura works now, if you go for a coffee break and come back, once all slices are finally loaded, you can very quickly slide up and down the slider on the right edge. So Cura basically has this feature already but better: it has built in pause, fast forward, rewind, rotate, zoom in while paused, etc.

14.02 has an updated layer view which will render the model much quicker for the basic outline to see if your model sliced correctly.
