I tried the command below, but then Cura would clear all the existing models in the current Cura window and then open the specified .stl model.

"C:\Program Files\Ultimaker Cura 4.8.0\cura.exe" C:\000\aaa.stl

Is it possible to import the specified .stl model while keeping the existing models?

Thanks!

(Note: Preferences > General > Use a single instance of Cura is checked, because opening a new istance of Cura is very slow.)

That should do it, but I can confirm that the behavior is not what I would expect. I would swear that previously the behavior was that a new project were added to the current project. Otherwise the "single instance" feature is quite useless.

@ahoeben  Thank you for your comments! It would be great if the behavior can be brought back.

Hi @nallath    Hope the team can fix the inconsitent behavior of openning STL files. Thank you!

    Existing models are lost:

    • click/open an STL file
    • commandl line "cura.exe aaa.stl"

    Existing models are kept:

    • menu/open an STL file
    • drag/drop an STL file in Cura window

The issue makes it impossible to ADD a solid model from a modelling software directly to Cura.

I believe that the team should have noticed this. Hope it could be fixed. Thank you!

It would help if you opened an issue at https://github.com/ultimaker/cura/issues
