Posted · High Precision / Calibration on X axis

Hi

I would like to re- open a know topic about the X-Y precision from ultimaker, and the way to improve it.

I know that this question was already open before, but the way they ended do not satisfied me, and I really would to start an new topic, abording the subject in an other way.

I already printed  with my UM3, this piece multiple time ( same material, same position, same settings )  ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:195604 ) that is exactly 100mm on both X et Y axis

As a result, always the same result

X : 100,30

Y : 100,01

According to this topic:  https://community.ultimaker.com/topic/33370-how-to-do-xy-dimension-calibration/   , the UM3 does not need to be calibrated as "they are calibrated very well and there is no way to change the steps without hacking into the firmware."

According to this topic :The bad result are due to speed, and settings.

So I reduced as they explained the profile to fit an "engineering profile" probably slower but more precise.

As a result

X : 100,20

Y : 100,00

Because this error on X is always here, and I have don't have this error on Y => This is not due to settings in Cura, but really in hardware

As the error is very consistent in time, this is not a deal with imprecision => the printer is actually very precise.

The settings actually does have an influence on this error =>

I would to know if I am right in my conclusion, and how to get this piece piece between 99.91 and 100.09.

Thanks
