hello, i recently acquired one (silhouette-alta 😉 and i was intrigued that, despite being closed, (great for abs ) it didn't have a heated table or fan....(required for PETG) so i decided to implement it. I'm at a stage where I make my prints in ABS (no warp) and PETG without any problems, but the table still looks like a homemade one... I'm not good with modeling. So I decided to show what I've accomplished and take advantage of the community's experience to move forward wi
basically i used a w1209 ( thermistor ) with an 8 cm heated silicone base ( the one i found round ) ideally 12 cm or a 9 / 10 cm square ... I put a 3mm mirror on top and that 's it . I used a monoprice mini delta table border (mpmd) to make the frame.
I hope you encourage your friends to carry out the project and point out flaws and possible improvements in the project.
Yes it takes time to heat up...but it doesn't catch fire...I've been printing at 60 -70 degrees without problems (the sensor may be reading less...)
and plan to put a PEI sheet on the mirror soon
I've been using the blue ribbon so far with no problems
th improvements and suggestions.
Basically

If it works it's good.  Safety is always a concern but at temps below 100 it shouldn't be stressing any components overly much.

I don't print much ABS but when I do, I cover the machine and run the heated bed at 105.  It's hot and I worry about the power supply and motors.  I have had good success with PETG and it doesn't stress the machine near as much.
