Posted · Ultimaker S5 not reading UM PETG spools?

Hi,

We have 4 Ultimaker S5 machines here in my lab and we just received some Ultimaker brand PETG.

The machine is not detecting this new material and we're having some trouble doing the manual work around.

Is there a firmware update needed for the machines to recognize this new material?

Thanks!

Yes, firmware 6.4 or higher is needed for the UM PETG material.

How about an Ultimaker 3?  I am having the same issue of the printer not recognizing the spool and there not being a PETG profile to set manually.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

You can just wait with the UM3 until Ultimaker brings a new firmware to autodetect the spool.

As far as I know they are working on it and also on a PETG quality profile for the UM3.

In the meantime you can use the CPE profile and load it manually. (Generic CPE)
