Posted · Can flow sensor trigger printing to begin from second extruder?

Ultimaker S5: my print will run out of material overnight. When the flow senor acknowledges there is no more filament, will it automatically which to the next spool if loaded with the same material? If not, is there a way to manually pause and switch extruders? If I pause the print will the be noticeable damage to the print?

No that is not possible. When the flow sensor detects a problem with the filament it pauses the print and waits until you load a new spool of filament. The print bed keeps its temperature to avoid problems with the bed adhesion.

But there is not way to switch to the second extruder.

They will be no damage to the print if you pause a print and restart it, sometimes you might get a thin line on the print where filament as pushed out a little to much on restart.

With what you are wanting to do, it might be worth you looking into the Material Station as what you are wanting to do is what that is designed for.
