Printing problems

Yesterday these settings printed just fine (I printed that cube puzzle that came on the ultimaker sd card with great results). On the ultimaker I had set the speed to 60%, bottom plate to 65deg, and nossle temp 230deg.

Today I get this??? When I aborted this print the nossle was a couple of mm above the plate and no material was beeing extruded. What might cause this?

looks like your nozzle got blocked ?

I mean if you used the same settings as last time..

What can cause this sometimes is.. when you setup your print bed, you might have setup the glass too tight against the nozzle. Then when it starts printing, the PLA cant get out of the nozzle at all or just very restricted and that can cause a blockage !

These are my little tips.

Have a look at the back of your printer and make sure there is no dirt or dust in your extruder.

Then remove the pla from your hotend (change material).

Then heat up your hotend to 240 degreens and leave it for 5 minutes.

Then take a small (less than .4mm) syringe or needle and push the needle carefully up the nozzle from below. Make sure you dont bang against the nozzle.

Keep moving up and down until you get any trapped PLA.

Then reload your PLA.

wait until the pla starts flowing through your hotend and wait a minute and let it run though. this can help clean out the nozzle.

Then redo your bed leveling for a minute and give your head tip a little more distance from the bed. as in the user guide. a piece of paper or even two pieces for safety.

Then start printing, you can also try to bring down flow to 97 or 98 percent.. that sometimes takes a little stress away from the flow going through the hotend.

I agree - probably a blockage. Here's my detailed instructions on how to unblock a UM2 the quick way. By the 3rd time you do this you will be able to do it quite quickly (post #4):

It's also possible you ground your filament to dust at the extruder. You can tell if you do the "change filament" option and that has trouble also.
