Hi everyone,

Yesterday I was printing things over the digital factory, and today the connection to the digital factory was suddenly lost.

I've tried to click the connect button, which, even after a reset, wouldn't even give me a code to connect with.

In the logs I could find the following : connection broken by 'SSLError(SSLCertVerificationError(1, '[SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed: certificate is not yet valid (_ssl.c:1056)'))': /api/2435483/store/

I've added the logs of the printer, if someone could help us that would be great ! 🙂

Kind regards,

Steven

So there were some SSL certificates that ran out "recently".  Back in September 2021.  You might need the latest firmware for your S5.  The latest firmware has newer SSL certificates.

This is related to the "let's encrypt" fiasco that happened last September.  Which was in the news big time as it affected a lot of devices.

So it might be related to that but I'm not sure why it would take so long for you to see the issue.  Anyway: do you have the latest firmware?

I indeed have the latest firmware 7.0.2. The strange thing is though that even after installing it, the printer still suggests that I could upgrade to 7.0.2 and it will still keep saying that. At the moment we can access the printer by ip address, which luckily  negates a large part of the problem.

I don't know the answer but I'd do the following:

Put it into developer mode if it isn't still in that mode.

Once in dev mode it always displays the IP address at the top of the screen.

Is it still at that IP address you set with conman?

Okay then I'd ssh into the machine and try to ping your way to the internet to make sure it isn't being blocked.  Or use wget.  I'm 90% sure it only uses http (or maybe https) protocols so I'd make sure port 80 and 443 are not blocked within your location.

So for example you can do:

    wget google.com

    And it should grab index.html

    And then try

    wget ultimaker.com

    And

    wget https://ultimaker.com

In all cases it should retrieve an index.html (or index.html.N) file.

If any of those things don't work it should give you clues.  You can try to ping internal servers, ping 8.8.8.8, test DNS functionality and so on.

Thank you very much for the nice way forward! I'll try to perform the steps suggested when i have access to the printer againt ! It could very well be that  the university network, which the printer is connected to, suddenly decided to be difficult. I did a full reset of both the printer and the digital factory, which did not make a difference.

      • UltiMaker Cura 5.3 stable released
In this stable release, Cura 5.3 achieves yet another huge leap forward in 3D printing thanks to material interlocking! As well as introducing an expanded recommended print settings menu and lots of print quality improvements. Not to mention, a whole bunch of new printer profiles for non-UltiMaker printers!

      • Here it is. The new UltiMaker S7
The UltiMaker S7 is built on the success of the UltiMaker S5 and its design decisions were heavily based on feedback from customers.

        So what’s new?
The obvious change is the S7’s height. It now includes an integrated Air Manager. This filters the exhaust air of every print and also improves build temperature stability. To further enclose the build chamber the S7 only has one magnetically latched door.

The build stack has also been completely redesigned. A PEI-coated flexible steel build plate makes a big difference to productivity. Not only do you not need tools to pop a printed part off. But we also don’t recommend using or adhesion structures for UltiMaker materials (except PC, because...it’s PC). Along with that, 4 pins and 25 magnets make it easy to replace the flex plate perfectly – even with one hand.

The re-engineered print head has an inductive sensor which reduces noise when probing the build plate. This effectively makes it much harder to not achieve a perfect first layer, improving overall print success. We also reversed the front fan direction (fewer plastic hairs, less maintenance), made the print core door magnets stronger, and add a sensor that helps avoid flooding.

The UltiMaker S7 also includes quality of life improvements:
Reliable bed tilt compensation (no more thumbscrews) 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi A 1080p camera (mounted higher for a better view) Compatibility with 280+ Marketplace materials Compatibility with S5 project files (no reslicing needed) And a whole lot more
Curious to see the S7 in action?
We’re hosting a free tech demo on February 7.
It will be live and you can ask any questions to our CTO, Miguel Calvo.

      • UltiMaker Cura Alpha 🎄 Tree Support Spotlight 🎄
Are you a fan of tree support, but dislike the removal process and the amount of filament it uses? Then we would like to invite you to try this special release of UltiMaker Cura. Brought to you by our special community contributor @thomasrahm

We generated a special version of Cura 5.2 called 5.3.0 Alpha + Xmas. The only changes we introduced compared to UltiMaker Cura 5.2.1 are those which are needed for the new supports. So keep in mind, this is not a sneak peek for Cura 5.3 (there are some really cool new features coming up) but a spotlight release highlighting this new version of tree supports.
