I've never experienced this before where Cura wont print a part that will fit on the build plate due to the shadow it casts, for some reason Cura is thinking the shadow needs printing but doest show a sign of the shadow once i can get it to slice. Any advice on whats happening here would be welcome.

Many thanks

Dave

Did you ever figure this out? I’m having this exact problem.

If you could post a Cura project file (.3mf, in Cura go to File > Save Project) that has this problem so we can have a look at it that would help. This is a pretty old thread so it's possible you have a newer, different problem.

That file only seems to contain the model - you need to set it up like you were about to print it (if you could) and then choose Save Project. Some people accidentally pick Export which isn't what we want.

Sorry yes I initially chose export, but attached below is the normal Save Project

Your problem seems to be that your model is way down below the printer's bed:

So click it, and in the popup box for the move tool change Z to 0:

Now it's a happy... whatever it is you're trying to print:

Thank you so much! As you can tell I'm very new at all of this, and I'm not sure how the object got a negative z value but  I very much appreciate your help. I am back up and running! Thanks again
