Cura model rendering broken

Hi,

I've been using Cura for several years and been pleased with the performance. But a few month's ago, the visual rendering of the model in the prepare and preview tabs of Cura has not been working quite right. In the prepare tab, the model features can only be seen when light is reflecting off of them at the right angle. In the preview screen, it's like the print lines are too thin, allowing the infill to be seen through the top layers from the right angle, and severely distorting the view when zoomed in, for all layers except the top.

I forget if this issue occurred after a GPU driver update or Cura update. I can tell that Cura is using the GPU to render the model because task manager shows the GPU usage increasing when I rotate my view.

I've had this issue on Cura 4.12.1 and now Cura 5.0 beta.

I'm running a desktop on Windows 11 with a Ryzen 5900X CPU and RTX 3070 GPU

Any help in solving these issues would be much appreciated

Thanks

The first two screenshots look like you may be using a dark-gray material. Have you tried selecting a different color material?

For the preview tab, it looks like you are in "compatibility mode". Either the "Force layer view in compatibility mode" in the General preferences in Cura got checked, or your GPU driver is denying Cura an OpenGL 4.1 context.
