I have lost all the standard profiles, I have no profiles at all.  Cura 5.6.0

I have tried repairing and I have uninstalled and re-installed but it does not bring the profiles back.

How do I get the profiles back ?

They were there even after I created my printer but know, a day later, they are gone.

Did you recently upgrade to 5.6 (which should automatically copy previous configuration, including profiles) or have you been running it for a while and they just disappeared?

Also, just let me get an obvious one out of the way: if you're not using the same machine definition file (like you had to install your own because it wasn't in Cura but now it's included) it probably won't copy the profiles over automatically, you'd need to edit the files to refer to the new definition file (and possibly delete your manual definition file).

Either way, if you were running an earlier version and upgraded (doesn't have to have just happened, just so long as you were running an older version before):

    1. Close Cura if it's currently running
    2. Go to %APPDATA%\cura\ and there's a folder for each version. First go into the 5.6 folder and look in the quality_changes folder
    3. If there's files in there, go back to the 5.6 folder and rename the quality_changes folder (to anything really, this is just so there's a backup in case what I'm suggesting doesn't work)
    4. Either way, go back up to the cura folder and go into the folder for the most recent previous version (like 5.5), copy the quality_changes folder from that and paste it into the 5.6 folder.
    5. Open Cura and hope for the best.

    Hi there

I'm working with my ultimaker S5 CURA 5.6 (MAC) and can't find any standard profiles besides fine. I just updated the software since I didn't have any profiles in my old software - somehow they disappeared. Any idea or what to do or is there the option to download the standard profiles?

What print core do you have selected?  This sounds like possibly a normal thing if you are using the AA 0.25 core (although I suspect that is not the case here).

I solved my issue, my mistake.

The profiles are attached to a "material".

I added a new material, PLA+, and the profiles disappeared.

Once I changed back to PLA the standard profiles re-appeared.

What this also tells me is the manually added profiles do NOT get removed/deleted when you un-install and re-install which is why those actions by me did not resolve my initial problem.

They're stored in the Cura configuration folder (which you're right, doesn't get deleted). To get there, in Cura just go to Help > Show Configuration Folder.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
