So I downloaded a dragon recorder that has 3 parts. When you look at the videos of it being made it is being printed upright. When I import it into Cura it shows them lying down and starts to print it that way.  Is there a way I can get them to stand upright to print?

Thanks

Sure! Just import your model into Cura, select your model by clicking it then click on the Rotate tool in the toolbar on the left:

That'll make some rotation rings show up around your model:

Just click and drag on the correct ring (either green or red, depends on which way it's laying down, in this case green) around the circle until you get it upright:

What about the "select face to align to bed" option? That is my favorite.

Just pick the leftmost option on the rotation panel, then click on the face that should be aligned to the bed. Cura will make that as "on the bed" as possible even if you need supports to properly print (<-- note that last point of caution).
