AA and BB are not level

Hey guys 🙂

I'm new here and desperate for some help after a major printcore flood.

I've replaced the AA core but it juts out a little further than its BB neighbour.
I wouldn't think that this is a problem but it pushes against the rubber collar-like seals on the fan cover, preventing snug closure of the printhead.

The machine is still unplugged - does this sort of thing right itself when turned on?

I'd appreciate any advice!

This is normal.  This machine can print two different filaments.  One on the left and one on the right.  The problem is that the inactive print core always leaks a tiny bit.  About 1mm of filament.  So the printer keeps the inactive print core about 2mm above the active print core.  When the right print core is in use, the right nozzle is lower.  Only the right print core moves up and down.  You can do this with power off by sliding the switch above the right print core towards or away from you.  It's okay to leave the print head in either state as when it powers up it will move the right core to a known state.

Thanks @gr5! That makes a lot of sense, and is a very clever solution.

The hassle that I'm having now is that the AA nozzle is pushing a little too far on the rubber nozzle protector thing on the fan cover and is preventing it from closing properly.
I deduced that this is the problem because putting the AA core into the BB slot and flipping that switch allows me to clsoe the fan cover nicely (with the BB core now out of the machine entirely).

The image below (which has both AA and BB cores installed) hopefully shows you what I mean

Thanks for taking the time to help!!!

Excellent photo - you don't have the silicone thing installed quite right. Here's a video explaining how it should be installed and how to install it.  It's harder to do than shown in the video.  And easy to tear.  Fortunately they cost almost nothing.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
