I may be missing something but I'm struggling to get saved projects (3mf) to use updated STLs once I've updated designs. I understand that the 3mf stores the STL internally, but I assume there is some mecanism to say 'look for update to source it found'. I know that with working with an STL before saving Cura will autodetect changes and offer to reload. How do I get that days later?

The workflow that is "failing" at step 6:

  1. make stl in freecad
  2. create project and slice in Cura
  3. print
  4. validate print
  5. adjust design and update STL
  6. open project and slice (pain in the a$$ to get stl reloaded)
  7. print
  8. go to 4

Thanks in advance.

Install the Mesh Tools plugin (from the amazingly awesome @ahoeben, who does all the plugins which seem like they should be built into Cura in the first place), then right click your model and go to Mesh Tools > Replace model (you could try Reload model but I'm not sure if it'd work in your situation) and just load your STL again.
