I noticed that since I upgraded to 5.6 that my slicing times have gone through the roof.

I have one model that takes over 4 hours to slice on Cura 5.6 on a Ryzen 9 3900x with 64GB of ram and a 1TB NVMe drive.

The same model slices in under 2 minutes on Cura 4.13 on an i5 with 8GB of ram and a 512GB SSD.

I'm hoping that 5.7 addresses this as the differences are staggering.

This is not the only model that I noticed such a large difference in slicing times and it doesn't matter which of my printers I'm slicing for. They are all slow.

Printers:
Tenlog TL-D3 Pro
Ender 3 v2
Ender 3 v3 SE

I did look at 5.7 pre-alpha and it's a bit too risky, for what i'm doing, but dropping back to 5.4 seems reasonable for the short term.

    Thanks for the info.

I know they are combating some crashes under Windows 11.  I'd give the Alpha a try.  I did and some models that were consisting blowing up in Cura 5.6 have been able to be sliced in 5.7a

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
