Just been to the unveiling of the latest single seater racing car for the Formula Student team at Cardiff University.

The Ultimaker has featured quite extensively in this years design, cutting down not only weight but also costs.

That is too cool! Could you point out some of the items you 3D printed or used the 3D printer to prototype?

*To be more specific, if you 3D printed anything else other than the nose cone; which looks totally awesome and not even 3D printed!

I wasn't involved with the printing - I just introduced the team to Ultimaker :)

they posted a few prints on their facebook site and twitter feed if I recall. I know they have put the printer to good use and everytime I visit its running. So certainly gets a great deal of use on a daily basis from the students.

Through this post I would like to further explain what we are doing, and what you could be doing.
Our efforts consist of 2 layers. First; connect medical institutions and hospitals to (local) 3D Printing hubs to help them print parts of which a 3D model already exists. And second, contribute to design the necessary part and then have it printed via a (local) 3D printing hub. Experts are available from within Ultimaker and from within our network of 3D printing experts.
