LAYER Resolution

Recommended Posts

It can print .05mm and even .02mm but that is just silly as the nozzle diameter is more important for any printer you choose to buy. The nozzle diameter for UM Original and UM2 is .4mm. This means the radius is .2mm. This means if you make a perfect square, the corners will have .2mm radius curve. This .2mm is *sort of* the XY resolution. You can get smaller nozzles but Ultimaker does not sell them for the UM2 at this time.

If you print .02mm layers it will take 5 times longer to print than .1mm layers. So a 5 hour print may turn into a 25 hour print. And it won't look much better.

    • Architect Design Contest | People
The goal of this contest is to design a set of people figurines that could be used in such a project to make an area, office or mall seem populated.
Think of different types of people in different environments, like walking people, people standing still, working people, and both men and women.

    • Taking Advantage of DfAM
This is a statement that’s often made about AM/3DP. I'll focus on the way DfAM can take advantage of some of the unique capabilities that AM and 3DP have to offer. I personally think that the use of AM/3DP for light-weighting is one of it’s most exciting possibilities and one that could play a key part in the sustainability of design and manufacturing in the future.
