Why do you ask?

The Ultimakers are open source so it's totally possible for anybody to build one.

A couple of units were stolen some months ago so maybe you talk about these? I remember seeing a link to some UM2 sold on ebay (in the uk if i recall well) with very low start prices..

    Hi.

Is there any report about 'fake' Ultimaker printers ?

There are a few chinees clones of the original. And a Polish clone, but that one stopped selling after tons of complains about quality.

And then there are the stolen UM2s. A few have been recovered, but not all of them. As some of these machines where unfinished, they will lack quality control.

I have not seen UM2 clones yet.

In general, we do not seem to mind about clones, as long as they do not use Ultimaker branding.

So if i design a 3d printer for printing dough and call it the 'ultibaker' that will be okay ? ; )

You might have a trademark issue there (trademark law is odd, consult a lawyer in this case, or get written permission from Ultimaker)

I ask because I have spotted a couple of UM2 printers about 30% cheaper than the official price, advertised as NEW. The sellers have other 3D printers brands as well for sale. So I wonder where they get these printers from.

SandervG might be interested to get some details about these printers in a PM.
