Ultimaker2 feeder on the Ultimaker Original

Hi everyone,

my newest project is to put an Ultimaker2 style material feeder on my Original machine. I already "googled" for the specs of the UM2 feeder motor and found this google group:

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/ultimaker/qCBoH9TX6z4

So the specs are:

Nema 17

Bipolar Stepper

0.9° Step angle

400 steps per revolution

44 N*cm holding torque

The one I choose is this one:

http://www.exp-tech.de/Servos-und-Motoren/Stepper-Motor-68-oz-in-400-steps-rev.html

The things left to do are to change some settings in the marlin firmware but dont know what exactly. I know that have to set the new 400 steps/rev and have to change the settings for jerk and accelleration. But I dont know where to find this in the firmware and to what values I have to change the jerk and the accel settings.

Thanks in advance guys,

Lukas

The Ultimaker is often used for showcases and exhibitions. So it gets transported alot between locations. I want to remove everything possible that "sticks" out of the printer to make these transports more hassle-free. The ultimaker2 feeder mecanism is so simplistic and small that it is perfect for what I´m up to. It´s also a dual head machine so the space I would save would be segnificant.

I assume you've read the humungous thread that discusses improvements to the UM2 feeder? ... which generally involve junking it and replacing it with Robert's feeder design.
