Hi there,

I've recently discovered the incredible world of 3D printing and have purchased a Makerbot replicator printer. I must admit I wasn't really into searching and comparing different brands, and I deeply regret it. The thing is I've been reading about Cura excellent performances while my makerware has been doing quite poorly and this is why I'm asking you guys - Is there any Cura configuration file available for Makerbot? Can anyone share it with me? My son and I would be thankful!

Thank you in advance,

Cheers.

Makerbot doesn't use GCode (or well, they do, but they did some magic mumbo jumbo with it). I believe there are some g-code to their format floating arround that might work.

Makerbots and variants based on the Sailfish firmwares all consume X3G (a newer version of S3G)

You can use Cura to generate GCODE but you must them post process it with either ReplicatorG, Makerware, or GPX to create an X3G file.

GPX is a tool made to take Gcode and post process it for Makerbot style printers: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:81425

I had it working as a post process script with Cura but I haven't done much with my makerbot in some time so I don't have the setup handy anymore.

For the lost souls on google: 5th generation and newer makerbot printers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MakerBot#5th_Generation_Replicator_Desktop_3D_Printer) now use .makerbot files for printing. This is essentially a proprietary file type so you wont find free converters from .gcode to .makerbot.
