Printing a long pin in ABS

I have just bought a ultimaker 2 and so far I can't get it to print what I am after. I'm trying to print a round extrusion with a 4 flats on one end that is 76mm long. The extrusion is 200mm long and 30mm in diameter I can not make this print without lifting up off the base. Also when I go to load a print Cura tells me it will take 4 hours then the Ultimaker doubles it.

I have tried

- acetone with some abs as the base,

- slow print speed

- glue stick

- leveled the printer half a dozen times and even using feeler gauge

- brim base

- rift base

- nozzle at 250 degrees

- bed at 100 degrees

Anyone have any ideas on printing long round parts?

Thanks for your time

A picture of the thing you're trying to print would be helpful. Posting pictures is a pain but here's how.

ABS shrinks a lot when it cools, so that's probably your main issue here. What settings are you using for the fans? If they are going full blast, try setting them to 50% or even turn them off completely if possible. Consider covering the front and top of your printer to keep the chamber heated up.

If the part wont be subjected to a lot of force you could also consider printing it standing up.

Oh and I forgot to say that you should mostly ignore the print times displayed on the printer. Go with the estimation cura gives you, it's usually quite close. The estimate on the printer is near useless until you get towards the end of the print.
